Derek trained in the laboratory from 2015-2017 as a post-doctoral research fellow.

A key research contribution during his period of training was investigating common and rare variants associated with atherosclerosis and venous thromboembolism using electronic-health record biobanks, including UK Biobank and the Million Veteran Program.  He was also awarded the Harvard-Longwood Research in Vascular Surgery (NIHT32) Training grant, and the Robert R. Linton Research Fellowship in Vascular Surgery.

Derek is currently a general surgery resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
